UPCOMING EVENTS: 2016 Operation SAFE Dates - April 1-3 in Lewistown Thank you to everyone who attended the 2016 Association of Montana Aerial Applicators’ convention and trade show. There was record attendance for some portions of the program and meals. As always, our sponsors and exhibitors were extremely generous as they discussed their products, provided door prizes, and helped sponsor most of our meals, breaks and the PAASS program. There were 17 booths with 1 exhibitor who had to cancel at the last minute. The Heritage Inn served 81 lunches on Monday, a record, with slightly less than 60 banquet meals that night. A count for Tuesday lunch is not available at this time.
We currently have 38 paid members (operator, pilot and retired) as well as 8 allied members. There were even some new faces in the crowd of aerial applicators! 35 members attended the PAASS presentations during the convention where J.T. Capers (Illinois) and Gaylon Stamps (Texas) did a great job presenting topics all applicators and their crews and families need to be aware of, such as sleep deprivation and other safety factors. NAAA President, Brenda Watts (Arkansas), gave the keynote speech informing the audience about her operation and the benefits of being an NAAA member. Brenda is a very engaging lady and will be a terrific leader of NAAA during 2016!
There is an Operation SAFE Fly-In scheduled for April 1-3 in Lewistown, MT. Dr. Scott Bretthauer will be here to run the clinic. So far we have 10 aircraft scheduled to fly the pattern. If you’re interested please let Colleen know as soon as possible.
If you’re an early planner, please make a note on your calendar for the 2017 AMAA Convention – January 22-24, 2017.
The AMAA will no longer be mailing out its twice yearly newsletters. Rather, Colleen will email them to you to print and read at your leisure. They will also be posted on this website. Other, and possibly more frequent, mailings will also be delivered electronically so please make sure Colleen has your correct email address on file.
Enjoy the rest of winter as your maintenance and work routine allow. We’ll all be busy soon! Whether you’re a veteran or just beginning your career, as always, we urge you to FLY SAFE!
